FAQ:

How to Get Started with Your Cello Lessons

  • Do you teach all ages and levels?
Yes! I have taught students of all ages and levels from beginner to conservatory level for as long as I have played the cello. My private studio today is comprised mainly of adult, female beginner/intermediate students. No prior musical experience is required.

  • Do you need a cello to begin lessons? Where can I rent?

You don’t need to own a cello when you start. Many students rent at local shops. Recommended string shops include:

    • David Gage

    • Virtuoso Resources

  • How often do students take lessons?

Lessons are booked through Calendly and typically work as monthly subscription package.

    • Minimum: 2 X 45-minute lessons per month

    • Maximum: Up to 4 lessons per month

You can see available times and choose what works best for you on Calendly.

  • What if I need to take a pause from lessons?

Life happens! You can pause your lessons with at least two weeks’ notice.

  • Do you do trial lessons?

Yes, I offer prospective students a 30 min trial lesson for free. Book here.

  • How do I get to your studio?

The studio is easiest to reach via the F line (York St) and A/C lines (High St).

  • How much do lessons cost? Do you offer sliding scale tuition?

Monthly subscriptions for 2, 3, or 4 lessons/ month start at around $100 per lesson. A free 30-min trial lesson is offered to ensure a good fit. I offer a case-by-case basis sliding scale tuition to support committed students. Also available for students enrolled in full-time academic programs.
